Standing Room Only Theatre Company Presents Hair!

 

Standing Room Only Theatre Company is staged March 6-15, 2015 in the Van Fleet Theatre at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215.

Hair opens on March 6, running through March 15, 2015. Hair features music by Gail MacDermot, lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni. This rock musical has garnered Tony Awards for “Best Score from and Original Cast Show Album” and “Best Revival of the Musical” in 2009. Hair features hit songs including Aquarius, Let the Sun Shine In and Good Morning Starshine. Hair tells the story of Vietnam-era youths who are disenchanted with the status quo. This musical is intended for mature audiences.

 

Hair is directed by Theatre Roundtable award winner Frank Barnhart. The cast includes Ricky Locci (Berger), Nick Evans (Woof), Ryan Patrick Jones (Hud), Sean Felder (Claude), Michelle Weiser (Jeannie), Sharon Kibe (Dionne), Kelly Hogan (Crissy), Kim Mollett (Shelia), and Perry L. Meyer (Margaret Mead). Ensemble also includes Denise Anderson, Alex Lanier, Josh Stepp, Tim Lockett, Devon Porter, Samuel Price, Kyle Salmons, Cassie Gress, Maria Sagan, Tiarra Marshall, Sylvia Gonzalez and Danielle Webster.

Hair show times and dates are 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6; 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7; 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8; 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 13; 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14; 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15. Tickets for all shows are $21 for adults, $18 for senior citizens (55+), $16 for SRO members, $12 for students. Tickets can be purchased by going to the website at http://www.srotheatre.org. Discounted group tickets (10+ people) are available.

Standing Room Only Theatre Company in association with Music Legends Live presents Bye Bye Birdie. This musical production will be staged October 24 – November 2, 2014 at the Shedd Theatre, Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215.

Bye Bye Birdie show times and dates are 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24; 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25; 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26; 10:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31; 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1; 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2. This production will feature a special “Elvis” impersonator from Music Legends Live, featuring Jay Freeman or Kavan, performing a half hour before curtain at both of the Saturday and Sunday shows and at the Friday eve performance, October 31! Plan to arrive 40 -50 minutes before curtain if attending one of the special pre-show performance dates.

Bye Bye Birdie tells the story of Rock ‘n Roll legend, Conrad Birdie (loosely based on Elvis Presley), who receives a draft notice to serve in the army. As part of a publicity stunt, he travels to the small town of Sweet Apple, Ohio to sing one last song and plant one last kiss on a lucky member of his fan club. This musical with book by Michael Stewart, music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Lee Adams, It has been adapted into a 1963 film, a 1995 TV-movie, and a recent 2009 Broadway revival.

Bye Bye Birdie is directed by David Bahgat with musical direction by Jeff Hamm, and choreography by Zoe Lathan. Principal actors are Nicolette Montana AEA (Rose Alvarez), Justin Labelle (Albert Peterson), Ricky Locci (Conrad Birdie), Kelly Hogan (Kim MacAfee), Scott Willis (Mr. MacAfee), Karla M. Kruse (Mrs. MacAfee), Kathy Taylor (Mrs. Mae Peterson), Ryan J. Kopycinski (Hugo), Cherish Myers (Ursula Merkle), and Cam Holland (Randolph MacAfee).

Other cast members include Drew Washburn (Mayor), Scott Green (Charles F Maude), Katey Munger (Mrs. Merkle), Kasey Wolfgang (Gloria Rasputin), Michelle Weiser (Mayor’s Wife), Patrick Foley (Harvey Johnson), Joe Bolzenius (Mr. Johnson), Maddie Bolzenius (Alice), Cara Corrigan (Deborah Sue) and Quartet (Andy Simmons).

THE SOUND OF MUSIC

February 20 – March 2, 2014

SRO Theatre Company presents The Sound of Music to be staged February 20-March 2, 2014, at the Shedd Theatre in the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215.

With music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, the musical, which tied as a 1960 Tony Award winner, tells the story of a postulant who becomes a governess to the seven children of a widowed father and how their lives change through love and music. The story is based on Maria Augusta Trapp’s memoir The Story of the Trapp Family Singers.

The director is award-winning director/producer Frank A. Barnhart whose work has been acclaimed in Columbus with awards that include a Best Director award from the Central Ohio Theatre Round Table and in New York with an Off-Off Broadway Review Award for producing and directing.

Sharon M. Kibe plays Maria Rainer, Heather Carvel plays The Mother Abbess, and the von Trapp family is played by William Darby (Captain Georg von Trapp), Paula Shtein (Liesl), Nathaniel Thomas (Friedrich), Taryn J. Huffman (Louisa), Keegan Sells (Kurt), Avery Bank (Brigitta), Sophia Caraline Ribar (Marta), and Jillian Savage (Gretl).

Additional cast members are Taryn Melynn Barton (Elsa Schraeder), Ronald E. Nocks (Max Detweiler), Devon Porter (Rolf Gruber), Dakota Thorn (Sister Berthe), Cassie Gress (Sister Margaretta), Angie Duncan (Sister Sophia), John Feather (Franz), Dawn Farrell (Frau Schmidt), Francois Dean (Herr Zeller), Bruce F. Huffman (Admiral von Schreiber), Catherine J. Huffman (A New Postulant/Nun), Meredith Hunsaker (Ursula/ Nun), Alicia Brown (Nun), and Melissa Christophersen Redmill (Nun).

Musical director is Bryan Babcock and choreographer is Catherine J. Huffman.
