The Event of the Year: The 27th Anniversary Gala at the King Arts Complex!


The King Arts Complex 27th Anniversary Gala is THE event to attend in Columbus, Ohio!  Considered ‘A party with a purpose’, it will allow this historic Columbus organization to support the ongoing educational and performance activities in the community. The theme of this year’s gala is, “Celebrating our Local Treasures” where select community figures will be honored during the VIP Reception which will begin at 7pm (with regular admission at 8pm).

For this very special night, The King Arts Complex will transform into an elegant center, entertaining dignitaries and community members alike. Guests will experience an unforgettable evening of great entertainment, spirited dancing, multiple entertainment venues, worldly cuisines and specialty themed drinks. Featured performers are hip-hop legend Chubb Rock and world renowned jazz vocalist Rachelle Ferrell.  Join us at The King Arts Complex for one of the best galas in the Midwest!

London Feminist Film Festival 2013 Call for Submissions


The London Feminist Film Festival is looking for feminist films by women directors, which will be screened at the 2013 festival in November / December.
Submissions Deadline: 31 August 2013
• Women directors from any country may enter. In the case of multiple directors, all should be women.
• Films should deal with feminist issues and/or be feminist in their representation of women.
• Films can be of any length or genre, and from any year.
• Non-English language films should be presented in English-subtitled versions.

Cheryl Boone Isaacs Elected President Of the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences


As we are great supporters of women in the arts here at Black Chick Media, we are pleased to announce that Cheryl Boone Isaacs has been elected President of the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences! Isaacs previously held the position of First Vice President and Marketing Executive with the Academy, and is now the first African-American and only the third woman elected to this prestigious post. Congratulations Cheryl Boone Isaacs, and many happy returns.
